Saint Paul – Tyler Sunderman announced today that Luke Hellier of Saint John’s University will join Team Sunderman as a candidate for Vice Chair North.

Hellier currently serves as Deputy Executive Director of the Minnesota College Republicans.

“I am proud to join Team Sunderman,” said Hellier. “I have had the opportunity to work with Tyler and see his dedication to our organization, and I know that he is the person that we need leading us to victory in 2006. I look forward to having the opportunity to work closely with CR leaders throughout northern Minnesota. I believe our organization’s strength lies in the ability of our chapters to deliver votes and volunteers for our candidates. As Vice Chair North, I will work to grow every club and build the strong ties that we need to be successful in the 2006 election.’

Hellier is currently a junior at Saint John’s University where he is studying Political Science. In addition to his involvement with College Republicans, he has served as President of Students Fostering Conservative Thought, which brings conservative speakers to campus.

“I am proud to have Luke as a running mate. He has shown tremendous dedication to our organization and he will make an outstanding Vice Chair. Whether it be volunteering in the St. Cloud elections or hosting conservative speakers that bring our message to college students, Luke has been a strong leader. In the 2006 election, we need Vice Chairs who are willing to dedicate the necessary time and effort to growing and strengthening our clubs. Luke Hellier will be a powerful voice for outstate schools in my administration,” said Sunderman.
