Candidate Profile: Tyler Sunderman
A Record of Accomplishment and Leadership in the Minnesota College Republicans
Tyler Sunderman grew up in Le Sueur Minnesota on his family’s farm. His interest in politics began with listening to Rush Limbaugh in the tractor with his grandfather. He attended LeSueur-Henderson High School, participating in track, football, speech, band, and drama.
After high school, he enrolled at the University of St. Thomas. He joined College Republicans at a membership table the firs
t day of classes and was immediately active in the club. In March of 2004, Tyler coordinated the Bush-Cheney March Madness efforts at St. Thomas. UST led the state with the most Bush Volunteers, delivering a victory for Minnesota in the national tournament.
In April of 2004, Tyler was unanimously elected Chairman of the UST College Republicans and was also appointed Communications Director of the Minnesota College Republicans. During his tenure as chairman, over 500 new members were recruited and average meeting attendance doubled.
Throughout the 2004 election, Tyler was extremely active, writing speeches and recruiting at other schools, while leading the UST Chapter to new levels of membership, activism and growth. Tyler was also one of three Minnesota Pages at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City.
At the 2005 College Republican National Convention, the St. Thomas chapter received recognition for their success and leadership, being awarded Best Club in the Nation.
Tyler was appointed Executive Director of the Minnesota College Republicans in May of 2005, organizing a successful fall training retreat in St. Cloud as well as coordinating the volunteer effort for three separate elections in the fall of 2005.
Tyler announced his bid for Chairman of the Minnesota College Republicans on
January 16th, 2006.
