Candidate Profile: Amanda Getz - Vice Chair South


Amanda was born in Indianapolis, Indiana but was raised in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where her family still lives today. She is a junior at Winona State University, studying elementary education with an emphasis in social studies. She hopes to one day to be involved in education reform and work to improve our country’s public schools.

In her spare time, she enjoys watching sports and movies, reading, spending time with friends and family, playing piano, and dancing. After transferring to Winona from Marquette University, she joined the WSU College Republicans.

After the first meeting she was appointed Recruitment and Projects Director and worked on the WSU Get Out The Vote Effort, as well as membership recruitment in the 2004 elections She is the Co-Founder of the Winona Review, a website providing WSU students with news and commentary from a conservative perspective.

In the fall of 2005 she was elected Chair of the Winona College Republicans and was recently appointed as Vice Chair South.
